Baseball Splits Weekday Series With Hawken

The West Geauga baseball team earned a series split with Hawken on Monday and Tuesday. The home team won each game of the series. The Wolverines took the Monday match-up 6-3 and Hawken rallied for a 7-6 win on Tuesday. On Monday, The Wolverines used timely hitting with a four-run second inning led by two hits by Evan Sustin and a pair of RBI from Finn Keenan. Tyler Fink tossed seven innings and allowed three hits while striking out seven. On Tuesday, the two teams combined for 25 hits and Hawken jumped out a 3-2 lead after one. The Wolverines reclaimed the lead with a three-run third but the Hawks plated three in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the win. Mitchell Mikolay threw 5 1/3 innings and allowed 10 hits and seven runs, two of which were earned while striking out six. The Wolverines still sit in the running for the CVC Chagrin Division title with a big series against Perry next week.
