The West Geauga baseball team won three of four games at the Ripken in Myrtle Beach during their spring break trip last weekend. After dropping the first game, the Wolverines bats responded on day two with a 14-3 win over Wellston High School. West Geauga took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first two innings before exploding with an eight-run third inning. Mitchell Mikolay went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs and Tyler Fink was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Bryce Vidovic and Evan Sustin drove in three and two runs respectively in the win. Mikolay picked up the win with four innings of work while allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three. Cooper Vosicky worked two innings of relief work and notched four strikeouts. West Geauga defeated Justice High School 7-4 during the third game of the trip on Saturday afternoon. Fink picked up a pair of hits and scored two runs as West G rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Fink picked up the win with four innings of work while striking out four and walking four. The Wolverines won the final game of the trip 2-1 in walkoff fashion when Jackson Remaley helped his own cause with a single to center to score the winning run. Remaley tossed a complete game while allowing one run on three hits and striking out two. West Geauga is scheduled to head to Cleveland Heights on Wednesday to resume non-conference play.
